Qualified 8 players gathered at Kingkoh-so in Yurakucho, Tokyo for the annual final on December 27, 2008. The top 4 players after 2 games competed for the annual title in the third game. Kiyomi Koyama had a healthy lead. She just needed to avoid losing big in the third game to win the title. That seemed easy until the third hand of the north round when Chien Min Chang self picked a dramatic come-from-behind hand by Out with Replacement Tile. That gave everyone a chance to win with a small hand at the start of the last hand, after 47 hands. In the last hand, Koyama went on the offensive and self picked All Pongs to clinch the title.
